Vestal continued their hurdle domination by going 1-2 in the boys final, but this time it was Mike Egotanda who moved from the horizontal jumps to test his hurdle legs taking the victory in a track record 15.70. Vestal now has 3 athletes who can run under 16 in the event. A promising way to start the season as they look towards nationals in the shuttle hurdles.

4x800m:

1. Maine Endwell (A) 10:43.54

It was fitting that the first relay of the day came resulted in a showdown between the two host schools. Maine Endwell and Newark Valley traded the lead throughout the race, but in the end it Maine Endwell that crossed the line first.

Homer’s Jade Auchmody led from the start, but Madeline Beaulieu was just biding her time. She passed Auchmody, and steadily increased her lead to cross the finish line in a new NY #1 and US #1 time of 7:16.53.

Mande Semon continued his 100m win streak from last weekend at NY/PA. Although he pulled about before the line as it looked like he pulled a muscle. He still finished in a very respectable time of 11.26, and set a new track record.

400m Hurdles:

1. Erin. Leach(11) Homer 1:09.59

2. Lyndsey Lehr(10) Lansing 1:10.06

3. Megan Tinklepaugh Vestal 1:11.27

Homer has a very strong girls team that has already been performing well this season. Erin Leach took a narrow .5 second win over Lyndsey Lehr of Lansing.

1. Chris Murphy Vestal 57.58

2. Kyle. Carr(12) Trumansburg 58.86

3. Sidney Herman(10) Ithaca High School 1:00.03

Chris Murphy was the clear favorite in this event, though a late surge by Kyle Carr made things interesting. Murphy held on to win in a new track and meet record time of 57.58.

1500m/1600m:

1. Emily Mackay(10) Union Endicott 4:54.75

2. Mckayla Crawford(10) Homer 5:04.24

3. Marrisa Scott(10) Owego Free Academy 5:11.69

Emily Mackay led from start to finish, with the closest challenger being McKayla Crawford of Homer. Mackay’s time of 4:54.75 is a new track record.

1. Dan Schaffer(10) Maine Endwell 4:35.46

2. Joe Mcdonald(11) Owego Free Academy 4:35.47

3. Lucas Canales(11) Ithaca High School 4:42.11

The 1600m was certainly the most exciting finish of the day. Lucas Canales took the lead and led the pack through 800m, but when Joe Mcdonald of Owego picked up the pace, Canales faded and only Maine Endwell’s Dan Schaffer was able to follow. McDonald led into the final 100m, as Schaffer fought from behind all the way to the line for the win 1/100th ahead of Mcdonald in a photo finish that was very difficult to call.

400m:

1. Emily Niman(12) Chenango Forks 1:04.08

The final heat came down to the final meters as three athletes entered the final straight dead even.  Emily Niman managed to just barely pull away from Erica Stevens and Charslie Bowen at the line.

1. Jayden Gavida(11) Homer 51.98

2. Kyle Kulp Vestal 52.35

3. James Felice(12) Owego Free Academy 53.32

Jayden Gavida has been running well in neighboring Section 3, and he enjoyed Homer’s foray into Section 4 and was victorious in the 400m.

800m:

1. Lauren Trumble(11) Ithaca High School 2:21.12

2. Parrish Bridges(11) Owego Free Academy 2:05.66

3. Grayson Hoteling(10) Maine Endwell 2:08.55

200m:

1. Mallory Stillman(8 ) Sidney 28.05

3. Gabe Dellaccio(11) Trumansburg 24.10

Mande Semon did not return to the track after his injury in the 100m. Maine Endwell’s Zach Clarkson placed 3rd in the 100m, and improved on that result to win the 200m.

3000m/3200m:

1. Emily Mackay(10) Union Endicott 10:47.87

2. Mckayla Crawford(10) Homer 11:21.79

3. Leanne Riegel(12) Newark Valley 11:46.19

Much like the 1500m, Emily Mackay was all on her own and ran her way to a 1st place and 10:47.87.

3. Evan. Whittaker(8 ) Trumansburg 10:36.80

Dan Schaffer took an exhausting sprint finish victory in the 1600m, he certainly earned an easier race.  Running out on his own, he sealed his second win on the track in 10:10.27.
