Fast Teams Flock To Fairer Weather - The Journies of Early Spring

MileSplit HQ - The early season has been nothing short of bone-chilling.  But as we  begin to thaw out, we decided to take a look back at some of the teams who became fed up with old man winter, and traveled out into the world in search of good conditions.

 

NAAATT Relay Carnival - Trinidad and Tobago

Utilizing a connection between their coach at St. Anthony's, athletes from the Long Island Catholic School made the trek down to Trinidad and Tobago, just one week after their national title in the boys SMR.  Once there, they would win the event once again, in 3:31.0, in a significant margin.

USATF US Area Youth Olympic Selection Trials

Rai Benjamin and Paige Duca traveled to sunnny Florida this past weekend, to try and make the USATF Youth Olympic team.  Duca came away with national leader in the 2k Steeple at 7:17.09, while Rai Benjamin took home the win over 400m hurdles in 53.32

ASICS Mt. Carmel Invitational

Iona Prep, and the Ursuline School traveled out to the warm beaches of San Diego, CA, to compete at the Mt. Carmel Invite.  Highlights included a state leading 4x800m girls squad, winning the meet in 9:33.69.  The boys took second in the pole vault, as well as taking first in the shot put.
